Vital Vittles was one of the first Corp services. Opened in January 1973, it was the first storefront of the newly created Students of Georgetown, Inc. Originally a food co-op located in the lobby of New South, the store sold only yogurt and Coke.
Vital Vittles moved to Leavey Center in August of 1988 and has been located there ever since, growing into a full-service grocery store carrying everything from frozen foods, produce, and toiletries, among the many other items often offered at lower prices than nearby grocery stores.
We also offer a wide selection of sandwiches, chips, and drinks for meals on the go and an ever-growing variety of vegetarian, vegan, and organic products. Visit Vittles on the weekends to stock up on plastic cups, ping-pong balls, mixers, and Advil. Recent additions to the store include New York’s famous Hale & Hearty Soups, small electronics such as USB flash drives, and an expanded school supply section, with more new arrivals right around the corner.
Vittles Student Spotlight
Each month we would like to recognize one student who is helping to reVITALize the Georgetown campus and community. You all know the type of people we’re looking for: the movers and shakers of Georgetown, the ones who bring an energy to any student group they participate it and any room they walk by, the ones with the freshest ideas and the most unique new perspectives.
The student selected will be showcased in Vittles’ store, as well as on the Corp blog, making this a great opportunity for our spotlighted student to promote their student group or any upcoming events! They will also receive a $25 Amazon gift card as a token of our appreciation. Any Georgetown student who is not a member of the Corp is eligible for nomination.
